In our household, where chicken is a big favorite, chicken dishes appear on the menu overwhelmingly often. Gradually expanding our repertoire is one of the joys of cooking. Tonight, using a very convenient cooking gadget, I made "Chicken Breast with Basil, Cheese, and Green Bean Rolls" with chicken breast!

Chicken breast wrapped in basil cheese and green beans

Ingredients 2 servings
1 chicken breast, half a packet of vegetable bouillon (Chiyo no Ichiban Kasumi), a small amount of homemade basil sauce, a suitable amount of pizza cheese, 3 green beans, rock salt, a suitable amount of black pepper
Frog silicone cooking twine (or kitchen twine), 1 clove of garlic, 1 bunch of mizuna for garnish, half a sliced lemon

How to make it
1. Remove the skin from the chicken breast and butterfly it open with a knife.
2. Season the surface with rock salt and black pepper, rub the vegetable broth into the underside, and then spread a thin layer of homemade basil sauce over it.
3. Place the pizza cheese and green beans on top, roll it up, and tie it with frog-shaped silicone cooking twine (or kitchen twine) to prevent it from unraveling.
4. Add sliced garlic to heated olive oil to infuse it with flavor, then sear the wrapped chicken breast on all sides.
5. Once the surface is nicely browned, cover the pan and steam-cook it until cooked through.
6. Remove from the frying pan and let it cool for a while to prevent it from losing its shape.
7. Slice to your desired size, arrange on a plate with mizuna and lemon slices, and it's ready to serve.
*This time, I made "Summer Vegetable Caponata" as a side dish. Caponata is easy to make, so I'll introduce it again sometime♪
The chicken is well-seasoned with basil sauce and cheese, so you can enjoy it as is. Squeeze some lemon juice over it if you like!

This is a frog-shaped silicone cooking thread I found at a 100-yen shop as an alternative to twine. It can withstand temperatures from 230°C to -40°C. It's a versatile cooking thread that can be washed and reused many times. I'm usually not a fan of character-themed items, but I was drawn to the frog's silly, gaping mouth and bought it anyway (lol).

Originally, it's meant to be inserted into the frog's mouth, but since this is an extra-long type, and given the size of the chicken I used, I ended up wrapping it around and twisting it to secure it. It withstands the heat of the frying pan and stays firmly in place, and since it can be washed and reused, this little frog is a handy cooking gadget that will likely be used often in my household!
