"Soba-ya Oomori" - Enjoying New Year's Eve soba noodles at Oomori for our last meal out on New Year's Eve!

For our last meal out on New Year's Eve, we went to Nakajima, a restaurant that serves exquisite soba noodles, using buckwheat flour selected from all over Japan and changing the flour each week.Soba Restaurant Oomori"fart!

This restaurant serves delicious, freshly made soba noodles, hand-ground by the owner, Masato Omori, and crispy, lightly flavored tempura, carefully fried by his wife, Saeko!

The restaurant is small and cozy, with a tatami room that seats about 10 people and a counter that seats about 4. The ceiling is high, and the space is filled with the warmth of wood, creating a relaxed atmosphere. It's a common sight to see regulars gathered around the single-slab table, but occasionally you can see first-time customers who have heard about it and traveled from far away, making it a very popular spot for soba lovers! The restaurant was full as soon as it opened, and after waiting for about an hour, we finally got our hands on some soba noodles. We ordered the "Tabekurabe" set for 1,200 yen, which lets you enjoy both seiro (steamed soba) and inaka (country-style soba), and the "(Warm) Yamakake" set for 1,200 yen!

Toshikoshi soba is a uniquely Japanese custom that became established during the Edo period. Because soba noodles break more easily than other types of noodles, eating them on New Year's Eve before the new year begins symbolizes "cutting off the misfortunes of the past year."

I am grateful for another year of good health, and I enjoyed the meal with the hope that my husband and I will continue to have a long and happy relationship, just like the long, thin strands of soba noodles. Thank you all so much for your support this year!
