"T. Andrew," a restaurant specializing in homemade hamburgers, won second place among Western-style restaurants in the western district of Shizuoka Prefecture.

From the intersection where Yanagi Street meets the tram lineIt's about 50 meters to the west, near the flower shop Flannel Flower. The long-established Western-style restaurant, "T. Andrew".This Western-style restaurant has been serving the same delicious food for 23 years since 1991. It is run by two brothers who look remarkably alike, who serve as the cooks. Their specialty seems to be their rich and lovingly prepared demi-glace sauce. Hamburg steaks and omelets are popular dishes at this Western-style restaurant. In addition to their famous beef tongue stew, other popular items include hamburg steaks, crab cream croquettes, fried shrimp, and chicken breast with cheese, as well as two-dish sets served on one plate.

Perhaps due to the influence of the TV show, the restaurant was bustling with activity. The small restaurant, with about 8 counter seats and 12 table seats, was full, and reservation calls were ringing one after another.

Hamburg steak: 950 yen

The hamburger steak has the same taste as when the restaurant was founded. The demi-glace sauce is said to be simmered for about a week. Each hamburger steak is weighed to check the size carefully, then shaped into a very thin and flat patty, and one side is slowly steamed in a frying pan. I noticed that it is always microwaved at the end. Afterwards, a small hamburger steak, topped with plenty of demi-glace sauce, is placed on a plate with a salad, and a sunny-side-up egg formed in a ring mold is placed on top, accompanied by plain fried ketchup pasta, a presentation reminiscent of an old-fashioned Western-style restaurant. The hamburger steak is certainly soft, but those who like the texture of onions or a meaty hamburger steak may find it lacking. The demi-glace sauce, which is the key to the flavor, is also quite sweet, so it may be a pleasant taste for the elderly or small children. Personally, it was different from what I had imagined.

Chicken Doria: 1,050 yen

I make ketchup rice in a frying pan, then put it on a plate, top it with a very runny béchamel sauce thinned with milk, sprinkle it generously with breadcrumbs, then add grated cheese and melted butter, and bake it in the oven for 8 minutes. The béchamel isn't very rich, but the richness of the butter added at the end leaves a slight aftertaste.

The set includes a "mini salad".

The salad that came with the gratin. Personally, I love Western-style restaurants and often look for them in Hamamatsu, but this was my first time visiting this place. In the rankings, it seems that "Misakubo" was ranked 1st and "Tea & Ryu" was ranked 2nd, but I wonder why my favorite Western-style restaurants, "Hiromatsu Branch," "Kitchen Izumi," and "Kitchen Tom," weren't ranked?
