Numazu - Japanese Restaurant "Uchiura Fisheries Cooperative Direct-Operated Ikesuya": A restaurant where fishermen's wives showcase their culinary skills using fish raised in Suruga Bay.

On the way back from Izu-Nagaoka, we stopped in Numazu for lunch at a restaurant overlooking Uchiura Bay.Uchiura Fisheries Cooperative's directly managed fish farm」。

The Uchiura district of Numazu City is known for boasting the largest production and shipment volume of farmed horse mackerel in Japan. In this area, nurtured by the rich waters of Suruga Bay and the blessings of Mount Fuji, high-quality fish thrive.

Ikesuya, a restaurant directly operated by the fishermen's cooperative, is a popular spot where you can enjoy fish carefully raised in the local sea, prepared in the most delicious way by the wives of fishermen who know fish inside and out.

After receiving a numbered ticket, the waiting time until you are called in is approximately 30 minutes.

Taking a walk along the coast with your dog, enjoying the pleasant breeze, transforms even that time into a moment of travel.

Once you receive your call number, you place your order at the reception and pay in advance.

Place your meal ticket on the table and wait for your food to be prepared. Dogs are only allowed on the roadside side of the terrace seating. You can bring your dog with you if you keep it on a leash or in a pet stroller. We sat down and waited for our food to arrive, enjoying the sea breeze, and it arrived shortly after.

A spacious covered terrace seating area. As the weather gets warmer, more and more restaurants are opening up with dog-friendly terrace seating, which is a real lifesaver. When traveling with my dog, I always struggle to find restaurants where we can dine together. Rather than compromising just because I'm with my dog, I really want to enjoy delicious food properly... With that in mind, I've searched for and visited many different restaurants. In the web magazine lade, I've compiled a travel log of my experiences with my dog, Chocolat, and...WITH DOGWe have launched a new page. You can find it in the categories on the TOP page. We will continue to update it little by little, and we hope that we can be of some help in making your trip with your beloved dog a wonderful one.

"Live Sea Bream Rice Bowl" 1,375 yen

In recent years, due to factors such as changes in seawater temperature, there have been times when it has been difficult to provide the restaurant's signature "live horse mackerel," and currently, they are offering "live sea bream" as their recommended dish. The "live sea bream" on this day was from Oura Suisan. The rice was from Marufuji in Oyama town. The white flesh of the sea bream, which has been left to rest overnight to bring out its flavor, has a sticky and glossy texture. The gentle sweetness spreads with every bite, making it a dish that lets you feel the bounty of Suruga Bay. The rice bowl, simply seasoned with soy sauce, has a classic flavor that highlights the deliciousness of the ingredients, and it goes perfectly with white rice.

"Freshly Pickled Sea Bream Rice Bowl" 1,375 yen

The marinated fish in the sweet soy sauce-based sauce has a rich flavor that permeates the dish, and when mixed with the egg yolk, a smooth richness spreads, creating a taste that will make you smile.

The rice bowl comes with miso soup, pickles, and a small side dish, creating a satisfying set meal style.

At this price, this portion size is truly a delightful treat, only possible because it's directly managed by the fishermen's cooperative.

This restaurant is so popular that there are often long lines on weekends, so it's best to visit with plenty of time to spare.

Seabirds soar gracefully through the sky, and fishing boats quietly pass by in the distance—this peaceful scene gently soothes the hearts of those who visit.

A little further on, you can see the collaboration of Awashima Island and the sacred Mount Fuji, and here, time seemed to flow as you savored the bounty of the sea with all your senses. As the tranquil scenery of Suruga Bay bids us farewell, we headed home.
