My friend and younger brother-like figure, Motoshi Yamauchi, opened a dining bar called "Beige" on November 24th in Renjaku-cho, just one street west of Sakana-machi Street in Hamamatsu. I went there the very next day to offer my congratulations!
The shop's name, Beige, reflects Motoji's kind personality: "Beige is an off-white color, so I hope this shop will be loved by everyone, taking on their own unique colors." Motoji plans to continue working at this shop until he turns 88! (laughs)
This is a renovated version of the former Italian restaurant "Felice," with the exterior walls repainted in a beige color to match the restaurant's name, creating a comfortable, cafe-like atmosphere both inside and out!
The restaurant, with its five counter seats and two tables, has a natural, warm atmosphere. It's adorned with artwork by Seiji Yamauchi, a performance artist and brother of owner-chef Motoji, creating a unique and distinctive Yamauchi world! The paintings are cool, but the piano-coated hat lights hanging above the counter are also fantastic!
In charge of drinks and serving customers is the dapper and mood-maker, Masami Kato! He is also the renowned commander of the Hamamatsu Samurai Troupe!
Furthermore, it seems that Hidefumi Yukishima will occasionally be helping out as a kitchen assistant! Motoji is truly a prince loved by everyone! (lol)
The menu offers an affordable set meal of "amuse-bouche + appetizer + pasta" for 2,000 yen, and you can add a main dish for an additional 1,000 yen! Furthermore, Motoji's original "gyoza" (dumplings) are available à la carte for 500 yen for 6 pieces! The filling seems to vary from day to day, but this time it was "cilantro boiled dumplings"! The cilantro aroma wafts out from the chewy skin, and you can enjoy a flavorful taste! Gyoza will probably become their signature dish in the future!
Former colleagues and close friends from Maruhachi Real Estate came to celebrate Motoji's success, and Naomi Niimi, who will become Motoji's wine mentor, also stopped by to deliver some wine! It had been a while since we'd seen each other, so we were happy to see each other again and enjoyed a pleasant chat for a while.
I'm so happy that a place where you can casually drop in with a glass of wine has opened! You should all definitely check it out!
