He spent four years training at a boulangerie near Place Monge station in the heart of the 5th arrondissement of Paris, France.Daisuke NakatsugawaMr. [Name]'s long-awaited dream of owning his own shopShareMange PlusMongeWe opened our store in our hometown of Hamamatsu City on October 1st, 2017!

This charming café is housed in a detached house that serves as both a residence and a shop, nestled quietly in the residential area of Sumiyoshi. The combination of white walls and wood paneling creates a natural and inviting atmosphere.

Stepping through the glass doors, you'll find a shop on the first floor with a display case and a small cafe space with six seats for eating in!

The station "Place Monge" is named after the mathematician Gaspard Monge, and Mr. Nakatsugawa chose this Parisian station, which holds special meaning for him, as the name of his shop!

In France, many bakeries also sell cakes, so this shop offers around 25 kinds of bread, along with seasonal fruit tarts, several simple cakes, and puddings that make great gifts, allowing customers to enjoy cakes alongside their bread.

Here, they use 10 different types of flour from France, Canada, Hokkaido, and other regions, each chosen to bring out the unique characteristics of the bread. Their offerings include baguettes that are aged at low temperatures, croissants with the aroma of fermented butter, and pain au lait made with milk. In addition to German hard breads, they also have French classics like croque monsieur and fougasse, as well as breads to fill you up!

I had visited several times shortly after they opened to buy their baguettes, but on this day, I enjoyed a relaxing coffee break while savoring some delicious bread in their cafe space, which I was using for the first time!
Since it was a late lunchtime, there were only a few savory breads left, but I picked one that caught my eye! I also added a baguette made with French flour and low-temperature fermentation for 300 yen to take home, and ordered a Mild Espresso for 380 yen!
Actually, this baguette was one of the options for our previous "Baguette Tasting Event," but unfortunately, we weren't able to purchase it that day, so it ended up being featured in an article on a different day.

This relaxing cafe space exudes the warmth of wood and reflects the owner's love for France. If you choose to dine here, they'll even warm your bread in the oven after you order, which is a delightful bonus!

Margherita pizza: 210 yen
With sun-dried tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella, you can enjoy a pizza-flavored treat on a breadstick!
Tartine: 290 yen
These French-style open sandwiches, with fillings that change at the owner's whim, are incredibly filling!

"Chausson aux Pommes" 350 yen
This apple pie features a patterned puff pastry filled with cinnamon-infused apples, resulting in a wonderfully crispy crust and a moist interior! The rich buttery aroma and the many layers of pastry are so delicious that I'm also very curious about the croissants from this shop!

Plus Monju is already gaining popularity and high praise from local bread lovers. It opens at 9am, so you'll need to go right when they open to get popular items, but the afternoons are quiet, allowing you to enjoy a relaxed time!
