This unusual reinforced concrete building is located in a quiet residential area of Higashi-Sanpo-cho, not far from my home.European-style restaurant FukinotouHere, you can easily enjoy European cuisine with chopsticks. It's very popular with ladies and is always full during lunchtime, weekdays and weekends alike, but in the evening, it's a restaurant where you can enjoy delicious wine with reasonably priced set meals or à la carte dishes.

The first floor offers spacious table seating for about 30 people, while the second floor can be used as a private room.

"Côtes du Rhône Rouge Belle Louche 2010" ¥3,675
First, to quench our thirst, we left the selection to the owner, Mr. Kosugi, and ordered a refreshing, reasonably priced white wine. It had a nicely concentrated fruitiness and a pleasantly dry finish. The tannins gave it a spicy impression, and the acidity balanced the overall flavor perfectly.

"Assorted Appetizers" 1,050 yen
Fried filefish with seaweed flavor, liver paste, ratatouille, and a soft-boiled egg in consommé jelly. The filefish is lightly fried and finished with a refreshing seaweed flavor. Fuki-to's liver paste is mild and not overpowering, so it's recommended even for those who don't like liver. The soft-boiled egg in consommé jelly is delightfully smooth and refreshing, perfect for summer!

Smoked salmon: 1,050 yen. It's even more refreshing when you squeeze lemon over it with the accompanying new onions and salad!

"Bucket"
At Fuki-to, they serve their baguette with homemade butter, and this homemade butter is incredibly smooth and delicious. It's easy to put too much on, so you have to be careful about the calories!

Seafood Gratin: 1,890 yen
This month's menu has been updated, and my favorite gratin is on the menu, so I ordered it without hesitation.

This creamy gratin features plump, large scallops, firm squid, and other seafood such as small shrimp. The béchamel sauce is light and highly recommended. Enjoy dipping the bread into the sauce while asking for refills!

"coffee"
I always exchange information about delicious restaurants with the owner, Mr. Kosugi, and this time we evolved by suggesting new places that we hadn't heard of before (lol). The places we recommended were "La Gap," a French restaurant in Fujieda that we've recently become fond of, and "Ibe," a Chinese restaurant that, surprisingly, Mr. Kosugi hadn't been to before. And since Mr. Kosugi and I have similar tastes in Japanese food, when I asked him, "What's the best Japanese restaurant in Hamamatsu?", he recommended "Misu." Misu is a restaurant that's always on our "restaurants we want to visit" list, so we definitely want to go there. Mr. Kosugi is 64 years old, about the same age as my parents, but he's really aggressive and has amazing agility, which I envy!
