Lunch at the casual French restaurant "Bistro Hayashi" *This restaurant is now closed.

Located along Sumiyoshi Street, it opened in July 2012.Bistro Hayashi"The restaurant is located in a former premises, but the exterior walls have been repainted white, and the window frames are a refreshing blue, so there is no trace of the previous shop. It is always bustling during lunchtime, and it is difficult to get in without a reservation. Despite having a large parking space behind the restaurant, it is always full. The vast majority of customers here are women, so it would be a good idea to carpool.

The restaurant's kitchen is directly opposite the entrance, and the owner-chef is Mr. Hayashi, formerly of Hotel Okura. The atmosphere is clean and stylish, like a chic cafe, with a white-based interior. There are 5 counter seats on the right and about 26 table seats in the L-shaped hall. Even if you come as a couple, the tables are for four, so there's plenty of space and it's a relaxing place to linger. For women, it's a great space to relax and enjoy themselves.

Despite the continuing rain, the restaurant is filled with the cheerful chatter of female customers. The lunch courses are as follows, but today I ordered Course A for 1,600 yen.

Course A: 1,600 yen
Salad appetizer, soup of the day, main course (meat or fish), baguette or rice, homemade dessert, drink

Course B: 2,300 yen
Salad and appetizer platter, soup of the day, main course (meat or fish), baguette or rice, homemade dessert platter, drink

Appetizer: Pumpkin and Bacon Quiche

As a salad appetizer, a salad, quiche, and soup are served on one plate. The quiche, which is loaded with cheese, has large chunks of pumpkin in it and is soft and moist.

Today's soup is "Watercress Potage." The watercress has very little bitterness, and the potage is rich with a generous amount of fresh cream.

Appetizer: Salad with a tangy onion dressing.

Fish dish: "Burgundy-style scallops, mushrooms, and potatoes"

This dish features scallops, potatoes, and mushrooms pan-fried in herb butter. There was quite a bit of oil sauce left at the bottom of the pot, so I used it to dip in some baguette.

Meat dish: "Braised pork belly and white beans"

This is a classic dish of pork belly and white beans simmered slowly in red wine and tomatoes. Depending on the fat content and cooking method, since it's pork belly, I've reached an age where a little too much fat can be hard on the stomach.

"rice"

You can choose between rice or bread. The portions are small, perhaps tailored to women, but refills are available for both.

"bread"

Dessert: "Paris-Brest with chocolate cream, brown sugar sorbet"

A Paris-Brest is made by baking choux pastry into a large ring shape, cutting it horizontally, and filling it with almond praline cream. However, this one isn't ring-shaped, so with the chocolate coating, it looks just like an éclair. The choux pastry is soft, and the chocolate cream inside is rich. The brown sugar sorbet is delicious with its gentle sweetness and rich flavor.

After-meal drink: "Coffee"

I liked the atmosphere of the restaurant and the bright smiles of the staff. I think it's a good place for a relaxed girls' get-together.
