Building habits for your future self, starting now. We, who had been away from exercise, have decided to get moving again, and a 24-hour sports gymTHIS IS GYMJoined "ColleGym," the representative of "This is Group Co., Ltd.,"Hinaumi Acupuncture and Osteopathic ClinicHe is also the director of the hospital.Atsushi ShingaiFounded by Mr. [Name], this membership-based sports gym started in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and is now expanding through a franchise system. Based on his extensive experience working with many people's bodies as a chiropractor, the gym is characterized by its focus not only on "training" but also on "conditioning." This stems from the idea of "preventing problems in daily life" rather than only going to the gym when you have an issue.

The COVID-19 pandemic drastically changed our lifestyles over the past few years. In the midst of this change, I canceled my membership at the gym I used to go to, and both cardio and strength training completely drifted away from me. "I'll start again someday..." I thought, but as I got caught up in daily life, I kept putting off my exercise routine. Before I knew it, I was increasingly noticing a decline in my physical strength and muscle mass, and I realized that my body had become "easily tired," "fragile," and "unable to push itself." At that time, a phrase I happened to see struck me deeply and resonated strongly with me.
"For your health and happiness 10 years from now"
This single phrase felt less like a mere catchphrase and more like a question posed to our future selves, which is what motivated us.

Health can only be built starting "now".
We tend to think that if there are no problems now, then we're fine. But in reality, health is greatly influenced by our daily lifestyle habits and can only be achieved through consistent effort. As we age, our physical strength declines, our muscle mass weakens, our metabolism changes, and by the time we notice, things have usually already deteriorated. That's why I felt that "now, while we're still okay," is the best time to protect our future selves.

Creating small habits that a couple decided on together
With the desire to continue spending time together in good health, my husband and I decided to join "KoreGym," a 24-hour sports gym. In our busy daily lives, "ease of access" was a very important factor in order to continue exercising. The appeal of KoreGym lies precisely in its low barrier to entry; we can use it anytime, anywhere, for as long as we like, at our own pace, and it's also convenient because we can enter smoothly using fingerprint authentication or a QR code.

By subscribing to a plan that allows access to all locations, you can freely use any of the 16 branches in Hamamatsu City, giving you the flexibility to switch branches as needed. It helps to turn going to the gym into a natural habit, rather than something you feel you "have to" do.

Pricing and plan selection
When considering whether to continue, the fees and plan details are important. CoreGym offers multiple plans based on a monthly subscription with unlimited access, tailored to different usage styles. The appeal lies in being able to choose from plans that allow free access to all branches, plans limited to specific branches, or morning, afternoon, and weekend plans, depending on your time and lifestyle. Having several plans makes it easy to find a way to attend that suits you. For example, whether you want to "go to a specific branch after work," "use different branches depending on your location or schedule," or "start at a manageable pace," the ability to choose a plan that fits your needs makes it easier to stick with it.

This time, we chose to become 24-hour members at all locations. The initial fee is ¥5,500 + administrative fee of ¥3,300, plus a monthly fee of ¥7,645 (monthly contract). We registered as CoreGym members on LINE and filled out the membership application form. If you choose a long-term 2-year contract and become a 24-hour member at one location (Note: excluding Takatsuka store), the monthly fee becomes a very affordable ¥3,300!

Smart entry with fingerprint authentication registration
While it varies from store to store, entry is usually via fingerprint authentication or QR code, so you'll need to register your fingerprint.

First, check your physical condition.
After completing the registration, I decided not to push myself too hard that day and did a light warm-up on the treadmill. Since it had been a while since I last exercised, I didn't want to put too much strain on myself right away, so I started slowly, checking my body's range of motion and how I felt moving.

“Starting with knowing "who you are now"
Understanding my current physical condition—how far I can move and where I feel discomfort—is the foundation for future training. I'll take things slowly, little by little, at my own pace.

Free 60-minute initial support
My biggest worry about returning to the gym after a long break was not knowing where to begin. However, at KoreGym, you receive a free 60-minute support session with a personal trainer who holds a national medical qualification on your first visit. They carefully teach you how to use the machines, what training methods are right for you, and what frequency and intensity are appropriate, so you can start with confidence. I realized that starting correctly, rather than just doing things haphazardly, is the key to continuing. On this day, I met with the manager of KoreGym Tomizuka Kanzanji Kaido branch, who is also a physical therapist.Takumi KawashimaI will receive guidance from Mr./Ms.

An environment where even beginners can start with confidence.
I had completely forgotten what I learned from the personal training session I had a few years ago, so I was treated like a total gym beginner and received instruction accordingly.

Creating an environment where professional expertise can be utilized
As professionals in the human body, we understand the importance of sustainable training, proper body mechanics, and the creation of an environment that encourages consistent practice. This is the foundation of KoreGym.

A place where you can achieve both "training" and "conditioning".
While typical gyms tend to focus solely on "building muscle," KoreGym also pays attention to aspects such as posture, body mechanics, and the quality of everyday movements, creating an environment that aims for more fundamental health improvement. I believe this reflects the "essence of the body" that the owner has gained from running a chiropractic clinic.

A post-training chiropractic treatment provides a more fundamental approach.
At KoreGym, they offer plans that include not only training but also chiropractic treatments. By combining 24-hour gym access with chiropractic treatments, you can simultaneously improve your physical condition. They address the body's misalignment that causes pain and discomfort, supporting fundamental improvement and building a body that is less prone to recurrence.

"Investing in the future: building muscle reserves"
What we've started now is, so to speak, "building up muscle reserves." It won't produce immediate results, but we're going to steadily accumulate assets that will surely support our future selves. A body that doesn't tire easily, the physical strength to move, and consequently, a positive mindset—all of these are born from small, consistent efforts every day.

Reasons why it's easy for beginners to attend
For us, who had been away from exercise for a while, the biggest source of anxiety was the feeling that "starting with hard training all of a sudden is worrying." However, just knowing that it was "a place created by professionals who know the human body inside and out" made a huge difference in our sense of security. When we actually started going, we could feel the design everywhere that made it easy to continue without overexerting ourselves, and it was an environment that naturally made us think, "I want to go again."

One of the features of KoreGym is that the lineup of machines and equipment differs from store to store. Therefore, you can change the atmosphere and training content depending on the store you use.

The "KoreGym Takatsuka/Masura branch" that I visited to register for membership this time has showers in addition to changing rooms. This is a great feature for days when you have plans after training, or when you use it before work or going out.

Start off smoothly on your first day of membership.
On my first day of membership, the focus was mainly on the paperwork and an explanation of the facilities. I was carefully taught how to use the machines and what precautions to take, and the session ended with just a light workout. Since it had been a while since I last exercised, I was impressed that this "warm-up" period allowed me to start without overexerting myself. By "not pushing myself too hard from the beginning," I didn't put too much strain on my body or mind, and it naturally led to the next stage.

The most important thing for continuing is "enjoyment."
One of the reasons why it's easy to stick with KoreGym is that each location has a different atmosphere. By changing locations according to your mood and schedule for the day, training becomes a "change of pace" rather than an "obligation." On my second day of starting at the gym, I went to "KoreGym Irino Store," which is the closest to my home.

The Irino branch is slightly smaller in scale compared to other branches. As a result, it offers a calm atmosphere where you can quietly concentrate on your training at your own pace. It is suitable for those who want to focus on their body without being distracted by others, or those who dislike crowds and noisy environments.

Take your time and go at your own pace.
Day 2 at the gym. What I was worried about was, of course, muscle soreness. It had been a while since I exercised, so I was a little anxious, but since I'm not the type to push myself too hard, I didn't overdo it again today and trained at a relaxed pace. By being conscious of "not trying too hard," I feel like I'm putting less strain on my body and can continue with a sense of ease.

The Tomizuka store has new facilities and is a comfortable place to visit.
On my third day at the gym, I went to "KoreGym Tomizuka Kanzanji Kaido Store," which stands out among the many gyms for its new facilities.

The staff's personalities convey a sense of reassurance.
At the entrance, there are panels introducing the staff, allowing you to learn about the personality and aspirations of each trainer. Seeing who is involved makes even first-time visitors feel much closer, creating a space where a sense of familiarity naturally develops.

The gym occupies the second and third floors of the building, and climbing the stairs helps to switch on your mindset and get you in the mood for training.

A system that allows you to enter the store smoothly.
In relatively new stores, you enter by scanning an entry code (QR code) issued via the official LINE account. The fact that there's no need to go through reception and the service is smooth is a welcome feature. The QR code used for entry becomes invalid every 30 minutes, and a new code is issued each time. Therefore, copies or screenshots cannot be used, ensuring robust security measures to prevent fraudulent use.

A training environment that lifts your spirits
The gym is bright and clean, and the machines are new and well-maintained, creating a comfortable environment where you can focus on your training. The ease of use and comfort that comes with new equipment also contribute to your motivation to come every day. Since "consistency" is the most important thing when it comes to going to the gym, the comfort of the space is more important than you might imagine.

A strength training area that will satisfy even the most discerning fitness enthusiasts.
The third floor features a fully equipped training area centered around strength training machines. The extensive lineup is sure to satisfy even those who want to seriously train their bodies.

On this day as well, we started with a warm-up. After thoroughly loosening up our bodies, we moved on to strength training, and finished with cardio exercises, following a well-balanced routine. Instead of pushing ourselves too hard, we comfortably completed a workout of about 40 to 50 minutes, adjusting to our condition that day.

Train thoroughly according to your goals.
With an environment that allows for targeted training of each body part, it's possible to train according to your individual goals, such as "muscle building," "body shaping," and "performance enhancement." Another attractive feature is that it caters to all levels, from beginners to advanced trainees.

The reality I felt after training for the first time in a while
We resumed training in this environment, but to be honest, we made a somewhat shocking discovery. We can now only lift about half the weight we used to be able to handle. We've really come to realize the effects of being away from exercise. However, this is also my current reality. Rather than forcing myself to compare myself to the past, I feel it's important to "build from here." It's okay to move forward little by little. Being able to think that way is one of the biggest takeaways from starting to go to the gym again.

So that I can still be smiling 10 years from now
Health isn't something you realize you have after you've lost it; it's something you protect now. So that 10 years from now, you can think, "I'm glad I started this." Cherishing each step we take today, we will continue our efforts steadily. We also plan to share our physical changes and insights little by little. We hope to inspire others who, like us, are thinking, "I want to start something."
