Nestled in the rich natural environment of Ise-Shima National Park in Mie PrefectureNEMU RESORTOn the third day of our stay, we decided to relax at the resort with our beloved dog, Chocolat. When traveling, we often want to pack our schedules with sightseeing, gourmet food, and visits to scenic spots, but on this day, we deliberately chose not to go anywhere and instead spent the day relaxing at the resort. This kind of "luxury of doing nothing" is one of the charms of staying for multiple nights.

NEMU RESORT is a resort boasting a vast area of approximately 250 hectares, equivalent to about 61 Tokyo Domes. All transportation between facilities is provided by a land car exclusively for guests. Driving through the lush forest is one of the unique pleasures of this resort. You can truly appreciate the sheer scale of the resort, as it takes about an hour just to drive around the grounds.

The hotel I stayed atForest Villa DOGThe facility has separate dog runs for small dogs and large dogs. The small dog area is surprisingly spacious, and for little Chocolat, just walking from one end to the other is a big adventure.

As they walk across the grass, they stop here and there, engrossed in their "sniffing activities," carefully checking the scents.

Chocolat is naturally not very active, and doesn't run around the dog park with great energy, but even the sight of her tottering along at her own pace is endearing, and my husband and I watch over her without rushing her, matching her pace. She occasionally looks back at us as she walks, and when she gets tired, she sits down right there, a cute signal that she can't walk any further. We can't help but smile at such gestures, and we enjoy the peaceful time that can only be experienced when traveling.

After a long walk, we made sure to rehydrate and headed to the "Hammock Square." This area, surrounded by trees, not only offers a place to relax in hammocks, but also features an interactive activity called "Drawing Street." Using the pathways set up in the forest as a canvas, you can freely draw pictures and write letters with colorful chalk, making it a popular spot where children and adults alike can enjoy themselves and rediscover their inner child. As we walked along, we saw a variety of artwork, including illustrations of Doraemon and messages, and it was fun just looking at them. And for some reason, in one corner, there was even a math equation... My husband and I exchanged glances and laughed, wondering, "Is that summer vacation homework?" Because it's in nature, you don't feel pressured to "draw something neat," and you can enjoy doodling to your heart's content with free-spirited ideas, which is unique to this place. It's a playful space that brings smiles to the faces of both children and adults.

When you relax in a hammock set up among the trees, the refreshing breeze blowing through the forest feels wonderful, and only the sounds of birdsong and rustling leaves can be heard in the quiet atmosphere.

Chocolat snuggled up beside me, and we dozed off for a nap, surrounded by nature.

As you sway in the hammock, if you happen to look up, you'll find yourself in a relaxing space that feels like you're surrounded by a forest.

It's as if time is slowing down, and you spend your time with the sounds of the forest as background music.

A new facility opened on July 18, 2026 (Sat) on a hilltop.HILL TOP HOUSE / Hill Top HouseYou can also see the view of "[the landmark]". This is a new accommodation area with a pool and restaurant, and it's a noteworthy facility that just had its grand opening on July 18, 2026. *Dogs are not allowed in Hilltop House.

"Hilltop House" adds a new dimension to the scenery atop the hill. With the opening of this new facility this summer, "NEMU RESORT" is sure to be filled with even more smiles and excitement.

After my nap, I headed to the swing area in front of the hotel. With a freshly brewed coffee I'd received in the lounge in hand, I enjoyed a leisurely afternoon coffee break while admiring the lush green scenery.

I held Chocolat tightly in my arms, carefully swinging her on the swing so as not to drop her. As I felt the wind rustling through the trees, I soon felt like I was a child again. It was just an ordinary moment, but it was a peaceful and happy time that made my heart feel lighter.

Spending a day surrounded by nature, feeling the breeze and matching your dog's pace, offers a different kind of richness. It's precisely because you don't cram your schedule that you notice new sights, and ordinary moments transform into special memories. I felt that being able to spend such peaceful moments is a major appeal of "NEMU RESORT."
