An American flag flies in the residential area south of Fukuroi Station. It is a shop where you can enjoy American BBQ, American home cooking, and sweets.Saturday, August 16, 2014to "Happy Days"Mr. and Mrs. GarrettA dining bar that has just opened. Raised in the prosperous state of Florida, known as one of America's leading tourist destinations.Mark GarrettAnd his wife, who is Japanese but has used her overseas experience to her advantage, is currently working in a job that utilizes her language skills.AyakoMs. (What a lovely name! lol) opened this restaurant with the sole desire to give back to the town of Fukuroi, which welcomed the two of them—who had no prior connection to Japan—and to let them enjoy the authentic taste of America, even though it is a small establishment. The kitchen equipment is directly imported from America, and they are committed to making the recipes and spice blends as authentic as possible.MarkWhile running an English conversation school, she has been interacting with the people of Fukuroi, and is known for her playful personality, kind nature, and reliable partner.AyakoThanks to their support, they have blended seamlessly into the town of Fukuroi. Happy Days, run by this couple, is only open on weekends, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but it's a fun, global place where English, Japanese, and even Portuguese and Spanish are spoken. This time,Mr. and Mrs. GarrettI heard a rumor that [Name] is a fan of our web magazine, lade, so I decided to sneak in and check it out (lol).

The design and construction of the warm, wooden interior was handled by "Kurabito First Class Architect Office"ofFumie KurataThe work was done by Mr. [Name], and the brick-style walls and other details were done by the owner.MarkHe apparently put a lot of effort into the DIY aspects himself. Building his own shop from scratch shows how much passion he has for it. There are 6 counter seats, two 4-seater tables, and a U-shaped table that can seat 6-9 people. There is also a standing table for 2-3 people. The terrace seating is often used for gatherings with small children. On this day, I will be enjoying a night in Fukuroi with a friend and his wife whom I haven't seen in a long time♪

The menu mainly features BBQ sets, which come with pork ribs, sausages, chicken, and more, all on one plate. These are priced at 1,800 yen for adults, 1,000 yen for children up to 11 years old, and 650 yen for children up to 6 years old. For side dishes, you can choose from six options including onion rings and coleslaw, so ordering a variety and sharing is a fun way to enjoy the food!

Beer (Budweiser & Guinness) 500 yen
The only alcoholic beverage available is beer, but there are three types: Ichiban Shibori, Budweiser, and Guinness. Budweiser has a gentle, refreshing taste, while Guinness is a dark beer with a creamy foam, richness, sweetness, and umami, making it a stark contrast to Budweiser. I'll try both kinds of beer!

ownerMark GarrettMr. Garrett is an English teacher, but he doesn't speak much Japanese (laughs). However, I think it's a great place for people who want to study English. Just listening to the conversations between Mr. and Mrs. Garrett, their interactions with the staff, and the languages spoken by the worldwide clientele would be educational!

BBQ set menu: "Baby back ribs (rare bone-in meat from the loin side), sausage, pudding pork, chicken" 1,800 yen
This one-plate meal features three main BBQ dishes, two side dishes of your choice, and cornbread. For the bone-in meat, it's best to grab it with your hands and take a big bite without feeling embarrassed! (laughs) The "Pull Pork" is made from a whole piece of pork with the skin on, slow-cooked in a low-temperature BBQ smoker for over five hours, then shredded. Enjoy it with our special sweet BBQ sauce or mustard BBQ sauce to your liking!

Basket menu: "Pork Sandwich" 1,000 yen
The basket menu is a one-plate set where you choose a main dish such as a burger, and it comes with cornbread, pickles, and coleslaw. This particular sandwich is made with tender loin meat that has been slow-roasted and aged for a long time, then shredded and served. It's also delicious with coleslaw and pickles!

Basket menu "American Burger" 800 yen (cheese +100 yen, bacon +100 yen)
A hamburger served with onion rings gives it that unmistakably American feel, which is exciting! A thick patty and a fluffy bun. Adding cheese and bacon as toppings (for an extra charge) makes it even more substantial!

Basket menu item: "BBQ Chicken Sandwich" 1,000 yen
This sandwich features finely chopped, smoky chicken with an aromatic flavor, combined with an original sauce. Pickles were added for a touch of color!

"Side dish"
Coleslaw, mashed potatoes (with garlic and gravy), and baked beans (sweet and spicy stewed beans). Personally, I like the coleslaw the best!

"New York Style Cheesecake" 350 yen (Strawberry +50 yen)
This New York-style cheesecake boasts a smooth texture, a rich and creamy flavor, and a pleasant tanginess that makes it refreshing. I enjoyed it topped with strawberry confiture!

MarkSince she started working as an English teacher, she has consistently recommended coffee beans from a specialty coffee roastery in Muramatsu.Mameya CafeThis coffee is brewed with beans from "[Name of coffee shop]". Currently, Happy Days also sources their beans from "[Name of coffee shop]" and serves them♪

Coffee: 300 yen
Since Mark is American, I guess he prefers Americano? We prefer stronger coffee, though (laughs).A certain married couple who are friends of mineThanks to this connection, I had a wonderful experience.Mr. and Mrs. GarrettIt was a wonderful evening meeting you both! Mark & Ayako, I'll come visit again soon! See you again~♪
