Din Tai Fung, famous for its xiao long bao, offers a lunch where you can compare authentic Taiwanese xiao long bao with Japanese-style versions.

JR Central TowersWe're heading to the restaurant area inside Towers Plaza♪

The New York Times reported:Top 10 Restaurants in the WorldIt was also selected as "
A Shanghai restaurant chain whose signature dish is xiao long baoDin Tai Fung」。
In 1996, the first overseas store opened on the 10th floor (now the 12th floor) of Shinjuku Takashimaya.
This Nagoya store opened at the same time as the Takashimaya in Central Towers.March 2000Opened on [date].
Starting with the "Xiao Long Bao" (soup dumplings) which taste just like those at the Taipei main store,
It enjoys immense popularity among a wide range of people, from young to old, regardless of age.
Furthermore, its deliciousness has been recognized worldwide.
Various locations throughout Japan, the United States, China, Singapore, Indonesia, etc.
It has now become a global brand with over 110 stores in 10 countries worldwide.
Since I have a reporting trip to Taipei coming up next week, I've switched into Taiwan mode.
I received this during my trip to Taipei in March.Din Tai FungI'm going to try comparing the xiao long bao from this restaurant with those from Din Tai Fung in Japan!

The interior has a clean and simple design and offers 78 seats.
At the Nagoya store, you get four xiao long bao (soup dumplings) between 11:00 and 17:00."Lunch Set Menu"I recommend this.

Shrimp fried rice set: 1,664 yen
Snow crab fried rice set: 1,880 yen
Shrimp noodle set: 1,772 yen
Hot and Sour Soup Noodle Set: 1,556 yen

Lunch set: "Xiao Long Bao (4 pieces)"

The steamer basket that comes with the lunch set contains four xiao long bao (soup dumplings).
The fact that the soup is visible through the skin means that the skin is very thin.
It's served piping hot, with steam constantly rising from it.
Place the xiao long bao on a spoon, add a little of the shredded ginger provided, and let's dig in with soy sauce and vinegar!
Din Tai FungSo, the manual specifies that 16g of filling is wrapped in a 5g dough, and the number of pleats is 18.
I understand that they can provide the same taste♪

The skin is soft, and when you poke it with chopsticks, the soup inside spills out. With one sip, you can savor the concentrated flavor of the soup.
From the melt-in-your-mouth skin, the delicious flavor of the tender meat spreads throughout your mouth.
The meat is lightly seasoned, so it's best not to add too much soy sauce and vinegar to fully appreciate its flavor.
Unfortunately, the xiao long bao I had in Taiwan weren't piping hot, and the skin was so thick that it left a residue in my mouth.
These xiao long bao were definitely much tastier!
The refreshing ginger accent made it easy to eat, and all four disappeared into my stomach in no time! (lol)

"Fried rice with shrimp"

The fried rice is seasoned with salt, and has a refined, light flavor with a rich egg taste.
The ingredients are simple, consisting only of shrimp, egg, and green onions, but the texture of the shrimp is excellent, making it very satisfying.
This is the same menu item I had in Taiwan,
In addition to the essential element of a delicious fried rice—the fluffy texture—the base flavor is also excellent, making the Nagoya branch the clear winner (lol).
The soup served with the meal is a light and gentle wakame seaweed soup, typical of Chinese cuisine.

"Sour and Spicy Noodle Soup"

I had the impression that hot and sour soup was very sour,
The acidity is mild, and there is a hint of spiciness from the black pepper.
Thinly sliced bamboo shoots and meat fried in potato starch to lock in the flavor,
It's delicious, with a refined soy sauce ramen-like flavor, and plenty of wood ear mushrooms and green onions.
The noodles are medium-thin and straight, and their texture is just right.
Because the soup is thick, it stays piping hot for a long time, which is another great thing about it!
I took on the challenge in TaiwanDin Tai FungWell, I didn't have a very good impression of it,
After comparing them this time, I was able to replace my previous memories with a much more positive ones!
