The blue cake shop located along Sumiyoshi Street in Hamamatsu is Patisserie "Abondance」!

Abondance means "corn d'bondance" (horn of fertility), and is considered very auspicious in France. The shop was named with the hope that customers would spend a rich and relaxing time savoring the cakes created by owner-patissier Bernard Heberle!
Bernard Heberle, the owner and pastry chef from Alsace, France, trained at famous establishments such as "Laurel," "Le Chandere," and "Dalloyau," and later served as head pastry chef at numerous renowned hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants. Since opening his shop in Hamamatsu, his wife Toyoka's hometown, in 2002, it has become popular for its rich, authentic French flavors, and this year marks its 20th anniversary!

The moment we entered the shop, the two of them greeted us cheerfully with "Congratulations!" Bernard, looking suspicious in his full-face sunglasses, was cracking jokes as usual, and the shop was filled with laughter (lol).

August 14th is my husband's 46th birthday, and while a large whole cake would be too much for the two of us to finish, I think we could share four different kinds of cakes from Abondance, which are just the right size. So, I'll take a good look at the display case and ask for their recommendation!

With a wide variety of items ranging from standard products to seasonal specials, I always have trouble deciding what to buy!

The menu changes with each season, and the display case features over 20 varieties in a vibrant array of colors. Bernard's cakes reflect a simple yet profound appreciation for the ingredients, and their deliciousness is directly conveyed. And they evoke a sense of nostalgia!

On the shelves to the right of the store, you'll find baked goods, which you can select and pack into a gift box, making them perfect for presents!

We had him take off his face shield for a commemorative photo! Thank you, you're really kind!!

Now that I'm back home, let's have a coffee break!
