My friend Kanako Watanabe, a yoga instructor and a long-time friend of mine for over 10 years, has moved into a new home in Handayama and simultaneously launched a yoga school called "YOGA Shinga Healing." She held an opening party, so I rushed over to celebrate with her!
This yoga school utilizes a Japanese-style room connected to the living room of a new home filled with the warmth of wood, creating a private and intimate atmosphere! With a class size of only about 8 people, you can receive thorough and personalized instruction!
Kanako, who has young children, plans to hold classes once a week, as she is juggling childcare with her work!
At the opening party, Kanako, who is always particular about her eating habits, will present her culinary philosophy, with a colorful array of healthy dishes including superfoods, vegetarian options, Ayurvedic dishes, and raw foods!
First, for the toast, we had a green smoothie made with bananas, apples, and spinach, infused with hemp charcoal and moringa (malunggay), which are known for their purifying properties! It was very easy to drink and absolutely delicious!
This time, the wonderful healthy meal will be delivered by "Studio & Caffe CIRCE" in Hatsuse-cho, whose owner is a certified vegetable sommelier and provides healthy eating options. The menu will also include bread from Kanako's favorite boulangerie, "Little Treasures"!
Furthermore, she incorporates a "eating order" into her diet, following Kanako's method: fruit → salad → root vegetables → grains! You can enjoy plenty of vegetables with a salt koji dressing!
Even young children can enjoy plenty of fruit and get their vitamins! Seasonal fruits are the best!
Among the offerings were homemade dishes brought by people who run vegetarian cooking classes and yoga instructors, as well as homemade chai full of spices. I also learned about a fermented condiment called "Hama Natto" for the first time, and discovered new ways to enjoy food! It was a blissful moment!
In addition to yoga lessons, they plan to hold irregular raw food-related events like this in the future!
Please check her blog for the schedule of yoga lessons and other classes!
