Izu-Nagaoka Event "Inu no Kuni Ohanami Wanko Marche" Early-blooming Shiroyama cherry blossoms blooming along the Kano River embankment

After enjoying lunch in Izu-Nagaoka, we headed to the Kano River embankment in search of an early taste of spring. Our target was the "Shiroyama Sakura," a beloved symbol of spring in Izu-Nagaoka. Along the Kano River, which flows through the hot spring town, a row of approximately 140 Shiroyama cherry trees lines the embankment and is known as an early-blooming cherry tree that is in full bloom from mid-February to early March each year. This scenery, which is dyed in the colors of spring a little earlier in a season when the remnants of winter can still be felt, is one of the unique charms of Izu-Nagaoka.

The day I visited, the "3rd Inunokuni Cherry Blossom Dog Market" was being held, and dogs were everywhere, creating a lively atmosphere. This dog event, held under the cherry blossoms of Shiroyama, is a delightful spring event for dog lovers, featuring dog goods for sale, food trucks, and content for dog owners.

The dogs gathered around the photo stand and all behaved well during the photoshoot. The staff skillfully used treats to guide their gaze, capturing one adorable expression after another.

Underneath the rows of cherry trees, many families with their dogs are enjoying cherry blossom viewing and taking photos. The atmosphere is lively yet somehow peaceful, and a gentle time flows along with the warmth of spring.

We, too, took a leisurely stroll along the cherry blossom-lined street with Chocolat.

Bathed in the gentle warmth of spring, this is the season when spending time outdoors feels more pleasant than ever. It's a spring day when your steps naturally become lighter.

Standing on the embankment, the gently sloping landscape of Shiroyama Mountain unfolds before your eyes.

Mount Shiroyama and the cherry blossoms of Mount Shiroyama come together, adding a soft touch of color, making the contrast with the blue sky even more beautiful.

The sight of dogs happily walking through the cherry blossoms, and the smiles that naturally appeared on the faces of dog lovers at the event, were truly memorable.

Besides the warmth of the hot springs, the scenery that allows you to feel the seasons like this is a major attraction of Izu-Nagaoka. It was a heartwarming moment where I could enjoy an early taste of spring.
