A small restaurant located on a back street in Viola TamachiHannari"Mr. Miss.”"Hannari"”The name "Isojiman" is a Kyoto dialect word meaning refined or elegant, and true to its name, the restaurant offers elegantly seasoned Japanese cuisine at reasonable prices. The owner uses seasonal ingredients that he personally procures from the market every morning, and the dishes mainly consist of seafood, such as sashimi, grilled dishes, and tempura, with the restaurant serving the day's recommended dishes. The restaurant also has a wide selection of alcoholic beverages, from Isojiman, a local sake from Shizuoka, to local sakes from all over Japan, as well as various shochu, so the owner, Mr. Makino, will select the perfect drink to complement your meal.

Daily special: "Sakura shrimp tempura" 900 yen
This was apparently the last serving of the day, a popular daily special. It consisted of three small but thick fritters of freshly fried sakura shrimp tempura. The crispy texture and the rich aroma of the sakura shrimp filled my mouth. Enjoy with salt or tempura dipping sauce, as you prefer!
Daily special set meal: "Two small side dishes" and "Steamed egg custard"
Simmered dried daikon radish and hijiki seaweed. This alone is enough to make you want more rice. Steamed egg custard comes with both set meals. The steamed egg custard has a gentle sweetness. It's not too big, just the right size♪
"Rice and miso soup"
The bowl is cylindrical and may look small at first glance, but it's actually quite tall, so I think it's a good serving size for even men!

This set meal lets you choose two items from a selection of six or seven. This time, I chose fried chicken. It's coated in potato starch and fried to a crispy texture, similar to Tatsuta-age (Japanese-style fried chicken). Enjoy it with salt or mayonnaise, as you like!
Japanese set meal with two choices: "Marinated Tuna Rice Bowl"
Fatty tuna is marinated, and then arranged neatly on top of rice topped with chopped seaweed and shiso leaves. Finally, it's finished with plenty of green onions and wasabi. The tuna is so tender and sweet, and the wasabi gives it a refreshing taste. I can't believe this is a 1,000 yen lunch every time. They put a lot of effort into sourcing ingredients in order to provide customers with the best possible products at the lowest possible prices. Thanks to that, you can enjoy such a delicious and affordable lunch right in the city!
A Japanese set meal with a choice of two items: "Salad"
I enjoyed a colorful salad with mizuna and bell peppers, dressed with Japanese-style dressing. This was my first time sitting at the counter, and I had a very enjoyable lunch, chatting leisurely with the owner, Mr. Makino! Thank you so much, Mr. Makino, for your time even though it was late.
