Located very close to Vatican City, about 500 meters away,Casanova RestaurantThis restaurant specializes in grilled meat dishes and Argentinian cuisine, and is a large, authentic restaurant where you can enjoy pizzas baked in a wood-fired oven. We'll be having lunch at this restaurant on the fifth day of our stay, which was arranged by our tour!
In stark contrast to the entrance, the spacious interior is quite surprising. The large first floor is bustling with activity, with people gathered around round tables and groups connecting multiple tables. A large monitor in the hall suggests it's a suitable venue for events, and there's also seating on the second floor. This place also seems to cater to many Japanese tourists, as the menu is in Japanese!
We were shown to our group seating and sat at a long table. A hall staff member went around taking everyone's drink orders. The meal arranged for the tour is included in the travel expenses, but drinks are, of course, at your own expense.
"CASANOVA Vino Bianco" white wine, 375ml, €5.00 (approximately 700 yen in Japanese currency)
We ordered a bottle of this restaurant's original white wine. It has a light, refreshing taste that's easy to drink, almost like water!
"Fresh Tomato Bruschetta": A large baguette topped with plenty of marinated chopped tomatoes.
"Salad" A salad with a good balance of colorful vegetables.
"Capricciosa"
Capricciosa is an Italian word meaning "”Whimsical”It means "chef's whim pizza." It is often translated as "chef's choice pizza," and the contents change from day to day, like an "omakase" (chef's choice) pizza. A simple whim pizza with prosciutto and mushrooms. The crust is crispy and light, in the Roman style.
You can get a sense of the size by comparing it to a face. This is a single serving, but the Roman style is much lighter than the thick, chewy Neapolitan style, so everyone finished it in no time!
"Panna cotta"
Don't expect the smooth texture of panna cotta you'd find in Japan (lol). It's more like a firm pudding. But still, enjoying a meal with a large group, especially with wine in the afternoon, is always fun! Next time, I'll introduce Vatican City, the heart of the Catholic Church that believers all over the world strive to reach!
