A gazebo-style tea house stands at the entrance to the popular walking spot "Bamboo Grove Path" in the Shuzenji Onsen town.「Takenosato Mizuguchi」Surrounded by the clear waters of the Katsura River and the lush greenery of the bamboo grove, this space feels like being embraced by nature, offering a pleasant place to take a break during your stroll.

Take a break on the raised platform where a refreshing breeze blows through.
The shop is situated in a location overlooking Katsura Bridge, with the sound of a flowing river echoing in the background. Sitting down on the raised tatami seating area, even in summer, a cool breeze blows through, and you can enjoy a moment of relaxation enveloped in the shade of the trees.

Opening hours are from 11:00 AM, when people start to flow in, until 4:00 PM. It may get crowded after lunchtime.

A relaxing tea shop where you can enjoy yourself with your beloved dog.
One of the great things about this place is that you can stop by with your dog. You can enjoy a cool, sheltered time with your furry friend during your walk.

Chocolat also seemed thirsty, so she made sure to rehydrate in the shade of a tree.

With the Katsura Bridge stretching before you, and people passing by in the background, you can surrender yourself to the gentle flow of time and feel as if you've traveled back in time. The Katsura River flows alongside it, and a surprisingly cool breeze flows in, even in the middle of summer. The wind blowing through the bamboo grove and the sound of the babbling stream gently soothe the mind and body of visitors.

The gentle sound of wind chimes fills the air, creating a moment of tranquility.

I'll ask the waitress for her recommendations before ordering.

The menu mainly features Japanese sweets such as anmitsu, oshiruko, nerikiri, and yokan, as well as drinks and soba noodles to satisfy a light hunger.

Staying hydrated is crucial for both you and your dog when going out in the middle of summer. Taking breaks to avoid the strong sunlight is essential. That's when shops where you can spend time with your dog under a roof are truly invaluable. Even just being able to hold your dog on your lap instead of putting them down on the tatami mat is a lifesaver.

Refreshing menu items perfect for summer

Tokoroten (agar jelly noodles) 550 yen
To feel the coolness of summer, I highly recommend trying "tokoroten," a specialty of Shuzenji in Izu.

The chilled tokoroten (agar jelly noodles) has a refreshing texture, and when enjoyed with the gentle murmur of the Katsura River, the coolness spreads, and it can be enjoyed with a light and refreshing soy sauce dressing infused with the flavors of seaweed and sesame, making it exceptionally delicious!

"Mt. Fuji Cider" 550 yen
The refreshing blue color stands out beautifully against the blue sky, and with just one sip, you're filled with the invigorating fizz and refreshing sensation, making it the perfect drink for summer!

I was torn between sweet anmitsu or black rice mochi, but I made the right choice by going for the refreshing tokoroten!

The "soba water" that came with the Izu beef dipping soba.

"Izu Beef Tsukemen Soba" 1,300 yen

This dish, featuring a dipping sauce infused with the rich flavor of Izu beef, is perfect for a light snack.

Izu beef, raised at Hirai Farm in Izunokuni City, Shizuoka Prefecture, is simmered in a sweet and savory sauce and added to the broth. The mellow, sweet fat coats the soba noodles perfectly, making for a smooth and enjoyable meal.

In addition to the outdoor gazebo, there are also air-conditioned Japanese-style private rooms available, so those who want to escape the heat can stay there. Personally, I recommend the outdoor gazebo as it offers a particularly comfortable atmosphere.

Surrounded by the Katsura River and a bamboo grove, "Takenosato Mizuguchi" is a relaxing spot you'll want to stop by during your stroll around Shuzenji.

Enjoying tokoroten (agar jelly noodles) and Fujisan cider while surrounded by the cool air will make your travel memories even more vivid. Be sure to stop by when you visit the bamboo grove path.
