Lunch at "Confiture," a popular casual dining restaurant.

Along the street in Sumiyoshi, near Seirei Hamamatsu Hospital, there are many other shops, and the dining and bar that is always bustling at lunchtime and also a great place to drop in at night is "Confiture"Mr. Miss.

The restaurant has a counter with 6 seats right in front of the kitchen, 2 table seats, and two tables with 4 seats each on the second floor, making it a casual dining and bar where you can enjoy delicious Western food while being close to owner-chef Wada. The lunch menu offers three courses as follows, and you can choose your main dish from original curry, pasta, or rice bowls. This time, I ordered the usual A set, a great value course that costs less than 1,000 yen!

Set A: 900 yen (Soup + Salad + Main Course)
Set B: 1,000 yen (Soup + Salad + Main + Drink)
Set C: 1,200 yen (Soup + Salad + Main + Drink + Dessert)

"Pasta with oil sardines and garlic"

Oil-based pasta dishes are simple, so the balance of salt and oil is always a concern, but both were just right, and the pasta was cooked perfectly! Since they use oil sardines, I appreciate the green garnish for saltiness adjustment and visual appeal. The spiciness and garlic are used in just the right amounts, creating a well-balanced and delicious dish. It had been a while since my last visit, and the plates had changed; it felt more luxurious than the previous cafe-like atmosphere.

"Wagyu beef hamburger steak with grated radish sauce"

This homemade hamburger steak, which occasionally appears as the main dish on the lunch menu, is our top recommendation. To allow you to savor the meaty flavor of Shizuoka-raised Wagyu beef, it's coarsely ground, with raw onions and minimal binder to ensure the meat's umami is fully appreciated. Therefore, they don't prepare large quantities in advance, only serving what they can serve that day, so you're lucky if it's on the menu. They also pay close attention to the cooking time, ensuring it's perfectly cooked without being overcooked, resulting in a fluffy and juicy interior. This time, the sauce was grated daikon radish, which was grated coarsely, adding a nice texture and making it a light and refreshing dish.

Owner-chef Wada trained at Hotel Okura before opening his own restaurant in 2006. This summer, 2013, marks seven years since he opened his restaurant, and he'll soon be entering his eighth year. The private room on the second floor, which has an attic-like feel, is child-friendly, making it suitable for family meals. It's also very popular as a place for girls' nights out, offering reasonably priced, casual French-based Western cuisine. Wada always speaks in a calm and gentle tone, but despite his busy schedule, he hasn't had much luck finding a good match and is currently looking for a boyfriend or husband. We hope he finds the perfect person for him!
