The stroll through Yagisaki Park begins, inviting you to the lakeside scenery.
Day 2 of sightseeing in Lake Kawaguchi. We are staying at the same hotel for the second consecutive night.FOREST VILLAGEAfter leaving "", the first place we headed to that day was "Yagisaki ParkAnd so begins our leisurely drive along the lakeside in our beloved car, enjoying the scenery and taking a stroll with our dog, Chocolat, to fully appreciate the nature of Lake Kawaguchi as it begins to change into autumn colors.
One of the joys of driving around Lake Kawaguchi is being able to stop at any interesting spots while enjoying the beautiful scenery along the lakeside. Many major tourist areas have parking facilities, so you can choose your destination freely based on the weather and scenery of the day, rather than having to decide on a fixed route beforehand.
I'm heading out for a stroll through Yagisaki Park to enjoy the unique scenery of Lake Kawaguchi, with its view of Mount Fuji.

Enjoy panoramic views of Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi! A breathtaking lakeside spot with a sense of openness.
Located on the southern shore of Lake Kawaguchi, Yagisaki Park is a spacious park where you can enjoy the rich nature and seasonal flowers of the lakeside. The park, which stretches along the lake, has walking paths and grassy areas where you can enjoy leisurely strolls and feel close to the waterside scenery that unfolds before your eyes.
The charm of this park lies in the fact that you can enjoy both the magnificent scenery of Lake Kawaguchi and the plants that change their appearance with each season. You can see the mountains stretching across the lake, the clear sky, and on a clear day, the beautiful view of Mount Fuji. With its expansive natural scenery, it's a spot where you can fully enjoy the sense of openness unique to a lakeside location.
Because you can encounter different kinds of beauty depending on the time of year you visit, this place has an appeal that makes you want to revisit it in different seasons. This time, I decided to enjoy the scenery of Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi while strolling through the park as the autumn colors gradually deepen.

The expansive lakeside scenery of Lake Kawaguchi and Mount Fuji creates a breathtaking view.
From Yagisaki Park, located on the southern shore of Lake Kawaguchi, you can enjoy panoramic views of the lake and the mountains on the opposite shore. Just looking into the distance can make you feel refreshed and at ease. The colors of the sky reflected on the lake's surface and the shades of the surrounding mountains change subtly depending on the movement of the clouds and the way the light hits them, giving the same scenery a constantly changing appearance.
On a clear day, you can enjoy the magnificent view of Mount Fuji across the park. The park is designed for easy strolling, allowing you to stop at scenic spots or rest on a bench, spending your time as you please. While visiting tourist attractions one after another is fun, taking a break in nature and slowly savoring the scenery before you is also an important part of the enjoyment of travel.
The open environment by the lake is perfect for outings with your dog. Enjoy a peaceful moment with Chocolat, taking in the surrounding scenery – a truly relaxing experience unique to travel.

Enjoy a moment of lakeside breeze in a park overlooking Kawaguchiko Ohashi Bridge.
As you enter the park from the parking lot, the magnificent Lake Kawaguchi comes into view. Further ahead, you can see the Kawaguchiko Ohashi Bridge, which connects the two shores of the lake. The scenery created by the bridge stretching straight across the lake and the surrounding mountains is one of the iconic views of Lake Kawaguchi.
Kawaguchiko Ohashi Bridge is an important road connecting the areas on either side of the lake, and at the same time, it is an impressive structure that blends seamlessly into the lakeside landscape. Looking out at the mountain range stretching beyond the bridge and the expansive expanse of water, one is once again struck by the sheer size of Lake Kawaguchi and the richness of its natural environment.
Standing by the lake, the gentle breeze on your cheeks and the calm air by the water are soothing, and you're enveloped in a different kind of liberation than when you were driving through the city. Just sitting on a bench and gazing at the scenery for a while allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and slowly unwind.

The picturesque hexagonal pavilion stands as if floating on the lake.
If you shift your gaze slightly from the lakeshore, you'll notice the "Hexagonal Hall" standing as if floating on the water. Officially known as the "Hexagonal Hall on the Shore of Lake Kawaguchi," a designated cultural property of Fujikawaguchiko Town, this hall adds a unique charm to the lakeside scenery of Lake Kawaguchi.
Rokkakudo is also known for how the surrounding scenery changes depending on the lake's water level. When it's visible from the shore, you can enjoy an impressive view that makes you feel as if you're walking on the lake itself. Its quiet presence by the water's edge offers a different kind of tranquil beauty compared to the majestic Mount Fuji or the expansive lake landscape.
Around Yagisaki Park, the charm lies not only in the panoramic view of the lake stretching into the distance, but also in encountering unique local scenery. Bridges, mountain ranges, and even a small temple on the lake—just moving a little further changes the impression of the view, expanding the enjoyment of a stroll.

Walking with my beloved dog, Chocolat, along a walking path enveloped in the gradations of autumn colors.
After enjoying the spectacular lakeside views, take a leisurely stroll through the park with Chocolat. After admiring the lake scenery, head to the tree-lined walking paths and grassy areas.
In late October, around Lake Kawaguchi, the vibrant green of summer gradually changes to more subdued hues, and a landscape that signals the arrival of autumn begins to unfold. Yellow and red hues can be seen on the trees in the park, and fallen leaves adorn the walking paths. The leaves, bathed in the soft autumn sunlight, change their appearance depending on how the light hits them, allowing you to appreciate the beauty of the season with every step you take.
Yagisaki Park is appealing not only for its lakeside scenery and the opportunity to enjoy a stroll, but also for its close-up views of changing plant life. From expansive landscapes with the lake as a backdrop to gentle paths where you can admire the changing colors of the trees, you can encounter a variety of natural expressions within this single park.
Chocolat, too, seems to be enjoying her stroll at her own pace, soaking up the fresh air of this place she's visiting for the first time. The time spent stopping to match her dog's pace, admiring interesting places, is a unique moment that can only be experienced on a trip, something rarely found in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Surrounded by colorful trees, an autumn moment with chocolate.
As you walk through the park, you can't help but smile at the sight of Chocolat relaxing comfortably on the grass. You can take photos with the trees beginning to change color in the background, or stop to look for signs of autumn. These simple moments also become precious memories.

The vibrant red kochia plants and the majestic Mount Fuji come together in a stunning display.
When visiting Yagisaki Park, one of the things you should definitely enjoy is the scenery created by the seasonal plants. In early summer, the lavender that colors the park is a highlight, and every year from late June to around July, it becomes one of the venues for the "Kawaguchiko Herb Festival," attracting many visitors. The scenery created by the purple flowers, the lake, and Mount Fuji is a beloved landscape that represents early summer in Kawaguchiko.
Meanwhile, Yagisaki Park in autumn offers a different kind of beauty compared to lavender season. One of the highlights of this trip was the kochia, which turns vibrantly colored in autumn. These adorable plants, with their soft, rounded shape, change from green to red, truly signaling the arrival of autumn. While they are somewhat smaller than the kochia at Oishi Park, which I visited recently, this quieter scene is also recommended for those who dislike crowds.
While many people visit the park to see the seasonal flowers, its charm lies in the fact that you can enjoy the unique plants and lakeside scenery that are different at any given time of year. From the lavender in summer to the kochia in autumn, and the trees that change their appearance with each season, you can encounter different scenery depending on when you visit, making you want to come back again and again.
During this visit, I enjoyed the unique autumn scenery, where I could see the kochia plants, which were beginning to turn red, alongside Mount Fuji.

A breathtaking view of the lakeside seen through autumn-colored kochia plants.
The softly rounded kochia plants are dyed in vibrant reds and yellows, adding an autumnal touch to the park. The soft silhouette created by the clusters of small leaves is somehow endearing, and there is a unique beauty in their neatly arranged form.
The vibrant red of the kochia plants, the blue of the lake, and the colors of the surrounding mountains combine to create a beautiful contrast unique to autumn. The scenery, woven from the colors of nature, is like a painting. It's a view that makes you want to take pictures again and again.

A well-maintained herb garden where you can enjoy the colors of the four seasons.
The park also features a herb garden where visitors can enjoy seasonal plants. Unlike the open scenery created by the natural surroundings of the lake, this space, where well-maintained plants harmonize beautifully, allows visitors to stroll slowly and enjoy the expressions of the flowers and plants.
The most representative plant of Yagisaki Park is undoubtedly lavender. In early summer, when the purple flowers are in full bloom, their refreshing fragrance signals the arrival of the season. During the annual Kawaguchiko Herb Festival, the view of lavender, Mount Fuji, and Lake Kawaguchi all together is a popular attraction.
Since this visit was in autumn, I enjoyed the calmer atmosphere of the park, which was different from early summer. Watching the colors of the plants and the surrounding scenery change with the seasons made me want to visit again when the lavender is in full bloom.

After enjoying the spectacular views of Mount Fuji and the lakeside, it was time for a much-anticipated lunch.
I was able to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi at Yagisaki Park, and also thoroughly enjoy an autumn stroll with Chocolat. Feeling the breeze blowing across the lakeside and taking in the seasonal plants and waterside scenery was a pleasant moment that you can't experience just by visiting tourist spots.
After enjoying the natural beauty of the lakeside, it was approaching lunchtime. Around Lake Kawaguchi, there are not only spots where you can admire beautiful scenery, but also cafes where you can enjoy local ingredients and carefully crafted menus. When traveling by car with your dog, combining time to enjoy the scenery with time to savor delicious food will further enhance the enjoyment of your trip.
Next, let's talk about lunchtime at a galette and quiche cafe.
