Born in the ancient city of KamakuraKamakura Kokon"Kamakura Cocon" is a traditional Japanese house hotel that accepts only two groups per day!

There are only two guest rooms available for stays: Room 101, the "Kokon Maisonette Suite (88㎡)," and Room 102, the "Kura Maisonette Suite (82㎡)." Both rooms have been renovated while preserving the historical Japanese aesthetic, and are designed to allow you to enjoy the Japanese garden from different angles!

The room we'll be staying in this time is Room 102, the "Warehouse Maisonette Suite (82㎡)," which is a renovated existing storehouse!

Each room is unlocked with a room key. Please remember to lock your door as it is not an automatic locking system!

Everywhere you look, you're greeted by doors and sliding screens adorned with traditional Kyoto karakami paper. The beautiful patterns create a noble atmosphere, and the natural paints give them a soft, gentle feel! However, because of the era in which it was built, there are some areas with low ceilings, so tall people should be careful not to bump their heads! (My husband is also quite tall at 181cm.)

First, the Japanese-style room on the first floor that unfolds before you is a relaxing 8-tatami mat room where you can stretch out your legs and unwind while enjoying the view of the garden!

Inside the closet, where a full-length mirror is provided, you'll find wooden hangers, as well as Kokon's original yukata, haori jacket, and tabi socks, along with a set of front-opening nightwear. A security box is also located here!

In the alcove is a calligraphy piece by a world-renowned calligrapher.Yuko Hayashi OkumaThe calligraphy by [Name] is on display, and the way the "Iroha poem" is blurred as if tears have been shed is also deeply meaningful.

A mini-kitchen is provided in the space connecting the Japanese-style room and the storehouse, and all drinks (6 types including beer and soft drinks) in the refrigerator under the kitchen counter are free of charge!

The cafe has an espresso machine for coffee and three types of healthy tea (Yuzu green tea, cherry blossom green tea, and Kuromoji tea on this occasion). A BALMUDA The Pot is also provided for boiling water!

Stepping through the beautifully repainted entrance of the storehouse, you'll find a living space where Japanese and Western styles coexist. The second floor has been renovated into a high-ceilinged space, giving it an airy feel that you wouldn't expect to find inside a storehouse!

Even in a space where the imposing doors of the storehouse from the time of its founding and furnishings such as Japanese chests of drawers are visible, the design is simple and modern.TIME & STYLEThey've incorporated a spacious sofa and ottoman, blending Japanese and Western styles to provide a comfortable living space!

The walls are adorned with black and white photographs, including one of the natural French cuisine dishes featuring vegetables from a farm in Fujinomiya.Restaurant Bio-s(Restaurant Bios) ownerKazuhiro MatsukiThe photos were taken by Mr. Matsumiya, and Mr. Matsuki, who has been in contact with Mr. Matsumiya for some time, is also in charge of producing the PV posted on the official website! I was just planning to go to Bios with a friend for dinner early next month, so I would be happy to hear some behind-the-scenes stories from Mr. Matsuki!

In addition to DVDs, CDs, and books, it also features the "ALLURE" AI speaker from Harman Kardon, which boasts excellent sound quality and is equipped with "Alexa." It responds to voice commands such as "Alexa, play jazz music!" and "Alexa, turn up the volume!", ensuring there's no shortage of background music, an essential part of our lifestyle! Just to test it out, I tried calling out to it from a Japanese-style room a little distance away, and it responded perfectly—a truly impressive device!

Next to the powder room is a spacious bathroom with glass sliding doors, where you can enjoy a microbubble bath 24 hours a day, with its delicate, milky bubbles that are great for beauty and health!

At this time of year, the bath is kept at a constant 42℃, so it's wonderful to be able to enjoy a comfortable bath anytime without having to refill the tub!

There is a toilet at the back, and there is also a toilet at the entrance, so you can use both toilets without any hesitation or needing to share!

The drawers are stocked with amenities including a hairdryer, and the bath items are also botanical and gentle on the skin!

The twin bedroom on the second floor has the slogan "The Quality Sleep"airweaveAirweave's firm mattress pads promise the fastest and best quality sleep!

The exhilarating feeling of spending time in a wonderful storehouse that actually houses various treasures, some of which are also used in the old-style hotel, is a privilege granted only to those who stay there!

With the shoji screens open, I have the garden all to myself, brewing tea at a table adorned with flowers from the garden, and enjoying a moment of quiet peace until dinnertime—what a luxurious experience!

The inclusion of Kamakura-bori items, featuring intricately carved details, deep lacquer finishes, and the warmth of wood, is a wonderful touch.

With its shimmering, Taisho-era glass windows and kumiko transoms showcasing the craftsmanship of the time, this 163-year-old inn offers a tranquil retreat where guests can feel the history of the building and relax in a secluded, villa-like atmosphere, allowing them to soothe both mind and body.Kamakura Kokon」!
