Hakone's Sengokuhara in early summer, sparkling with fresh greenery. Located a comfortable distance from central Tokyo, this area, enveloped in scenic pampas grass fields, abundant nature, and tranquility, is a popular hot spring resort that shows a different face with each season. This time, I stayed with my beloved dog, Chocolat, at the hot spring resort that opened on December 12, 2022.Hotel Mori no Kaze Hakone Sengokuhara」。

This is the company that has been spreading the hot spring culture from Tohoku to the rest of Japan.Nippon House Hotel & Resort Co., Ltd.It is operated by "[company name]", and I stayed there last yearHotel Shiki no Yakata Hakone AshinokoThis is a lodging facility operated by the same group.

Nestled seamlessly into the natural surroundings of Sengokuhara, this hotel boasts 44 rooms. Based on the concept of "Japanese modern," which blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with contemporary comfort, guests are enveloped in a tranquil atmosphere from the moment they step inside.

Upon entering, a magnificent Japanese painting of Mount Fuji, a sacred mountain and a national treasure of Japan, quietly makes its presence felt, welcoming you.

The interior is decorated in a calming style that evokes the warmth of cypress wood, and the sense of quality that permeates every detail is impressive. It is luxurious yet somehow comfortable enough to relax, making it the perfect space to be described as a "quietly healing inn."

Another attractive feature of this hotel is that it is dog-friendly, allowing guests to stay with their beloved pets. There are five rooms available that allow dogs. Dogs can be carried or used in a dog stroller within the hotel, and pet strollers, collars, and leashes are available for rent at the front desk.

We entered through the main entrance and checked in with our dog. The staff were very warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere made us feel comfortable even with our pet. Chocolat seemed relaxed throughout our stay, and I would recommend this inn to anyone who wants to cherish their trip with their dog.

Throughout the building, just like at "Hotel Shiki no Yakata," there are works by the Japanese painter...Shokan GoumaCalligraphy and paintings, rendered with the artist's masterful brushwork, are displayed throughout the inn. It's almost like a "museum where you can stay overnight." The landscapes framed in eye-catching pictures and the natural beauty of Hakone unfolding outside the windows subtly resonate with each other, creating a special space detached from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The front desk also displays this month's newly completed painting, depicting deer roaming a meadow overlooking Mount Fuji.

Hotel check-in is from 3:00 PM, and check-out is at 11:00 AM.

After checking in my luggage, I took a break in the lounge. The quiet pace of time naturally soothed my mind.

There is a welcome drink service for hotel guests.

The counter offers, from left to right, sake, grape juice, chilled Japanese tea, and coffee. It's nice that they offer not only soft drinks but also sake.

Featuring an illustration by designer Seisei Saito, the label has a striking design with a gold foil moon and a blue snake. It is characterized by its vibrant flavor and has a clean, easy-to-drink taste.

With a chilled glass of sake in hand, I headed to a sunny terrace seat.

As I feel the refreshing breeze of early summer gently caressing my cheeks, I quench my thirst with a glass of crisp, fresh sake.

The magnificent natural scenery of Sengokuhara unfolded before my eyes. Enjoying a cup of coffee while listening to the birdsong and the sound of the wind was a truly luxurious moment that marked the beginning of my journey. Even though I had only just arrived, the hustle and bustle of everyday life seemed to drift away.

The lounge is bathed in the soft afternoon sunlight.

After enjoying a moment of connection with nature on the terrace,

We returned to the lounge and proceeded with the check-in process, confirming our accommodation details and other information.

The connecting corridor is designed to gently connect with the outside scenery, creating an open space where you can feel the nature of Sengokuhara up close. Soft sunlight and a pleasant breeze pass through, enveloping you in a feeling of becoming one with nature.

The garden in the courtyard is a tranquil space rich in nature, where you can enjoy trees and flowers that change with the seasons. As you stroll through it, surrounded by the soft green of early summer, you feel as if you are staying in a forest. I was told that you can also take your dog out for a walk in this garden. I would like to take a leisurely stroll there with Chocolat later.

Nature, hot springs, creative Japanese cuisine, art, and time with your beloved dog—all these elements harmoniously blend together at Hotel Mori no Kaze Hakone Sengokuhara, an adult resort designed not just for "staying," but for "enjoying the stay itself." Next time, I'll introduce a wonderful room with a private open-air bath where I spent time with my dog, Chocolat.
