The grounds boast a spacious outdoor dog run where you and your dog can have fun, an indoor dog run where you can play regardless of the weather, and even separate footbaths for both people and dogs. In front of the inn lies a well-maintained, lush garden, which is more than spacious enough for a small dog like Wanpo.
Take a stroll around the grounds and head to the outdoor dog run.
Chocolat is very curious about the place she's stepping into for the first time.
Outdoor dog run
The outdoor dog run has a double gate for added safety. Since there is no lighting, it can be used from sunrise to sunset.
Beyond the garden lies a vast outdoor dog run, boasting an area of approximately 200 tsubo (about 660 square meters) and featuring natural grass that is gentle on your dog's paws.
On this particular day at the dog park, we were lucky enough not to encounter any other dogs at the same time.
Even Chocolat, who is a little wary of other dogs, was able to fully enjoy sniffing around and have the space all to herself.
The space is almost too big for Chocolat the Chihuahua, but it's large enough for even an active large dog to run around in comfortably.
Chocolat seemed very content sniffing the grass at her own pace, rather than running around.
A courtyard overflowing with greenery
After enjoying the outdoor dog run, let's take a break in a footbath.
A footbath experience that both people and dogs can enjoy.
The main building has a footbath on the veranda, which is divided into sections for humans and for dogs.
The dog-only footbath is clean and safe to use because the staff replaces the hot spring water each time you want to use it. Chocolat also looked peaceful as she enjoyed the warmth of the hot spring water.
Soaking your feet in a footbath while gazing at the lush green scenery is truly special.
A moment of respite for tired feet and healing for both mind and body.
This facility provides everything you need, including towels for the footbath, so you can easily visit empty-handed and enjoy it as many times as you like from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM. The hot spring source at Shuzenji Onsen is approximately 60°C, which is too hot to use as is, so water is added to lower the temperature.
Enjoy a relaxing footbath while gazing at the cherry trees and over 100-year-old Japanese pine trees standing in the courtyard. The thatched-roof building visible in the background houses two detached special rooms, offering a more private space with their dignified Japanese architecture.
After relaxing in the footbath, head to the indoor dog run located to the right of the building entrance.
An indoor dog run that's safe and comfortable even on rainy days, scorching hot days, or freezing cold days.
The indoor dog run, completed last June with the support of crowdfunding, is a spacious 80-tatami mat room that is very comfortable. It is open until 10:00 PM at night and from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM the following morning.
Indoor dog runs are equipped with air conditioning, making them a useful play area for your dog even in bad weather such as the middle of summer or winter.
Considering the strain on your dog's paws, the floor is equipped with a pet-friendly, non-slip cushion floor, allowing Chocolat to move around easily.
The illustrations in the alcove drawn by the staff are adorable, and you can't help but look to see if your own dog breed is represented!
The toy box is filled with plenty of toys for your dog, and they are available for you to use freely.
Since we got her, we've let her play with various types of toys, but Chocolat is so devoted to just one toy (the cowhide one) that it only becomes an object of sniffing, so even though we spread it out, we quickly put it away (lol).
Drinking water and foot-washing facilities are also provided.
The pet hygiene area is kept clean, so if your pet has an accident, you can clean it up yourself.
Chocolat acted like she owned the place and was the king of the hill when we put her on the playground equipment, but she's actually a bit of a timid dog who likes to do things at her own pace, so if there were other dogs around, she might not have looked so calm (lol).
The walls inside the building featured information about nearby tourist spots, restaurants, and cafes where you can bring your dog.
After getting tired from playing, we returned to the lobby lounge for a rest.

There was also a souvenir corner unique to Izu, featuring products made with the local specialty "wasabi," fragrant "guricha" tea, and the "MatoKaThey also sell Baumkuchen from "[brand name]". Furthermore, the hot spring steamed buns with the name "Kizuna" (bond) that were served as a welcome treat are also available for purchase, but these require advance reservations, so be sure to check beforehand.

From July to August, they've also launched a limited-time "Enjoy Nostalgic Flavors and Summer: All-You-Can-Drink Plan (4,500 yen per adult)." If you sign up, you can enjoy unlimited draft beer, wine, shochu, and whiskey, as well as nostalgic bottled ramune and traditional Japanese sweets.
Children under elementary school age can enjoy it for free, making it a great event for families with young children.
A photo booth to capture memories of your dog's trip.
Next to the lounge, there's a photo booth with a theme that changes seasonally, allowing you to take memorable photos of your dog throughout the year. It's the perfect spot to create precious memories of your trip.
We tried taking photos in a cool summer photo booth with bamboo leaves, but Chocolat looked quite tired. Let's just relax in our room.
As the seasons change, it looks like we'll be able to enjoy a photo booth with the vibrant autumn foliage!
We decided to let Chocolat rest in the guest room for a while.
We went to the public bath.
Here, you can enjoy the hot spring water, said to be the oldest in Izu, flowing directly from the source in the large public bath, open-air bath, and indoor bath. Except for the cleaning time between 6:30 PM and 8:00 PM, you can bathe until 10:00 AM the following morning, allowing for a relaxing experience.
The men's and women's baths switch places at 8:00 PM.

The spring water is an alkaline simple hot spring (hypotonic, alkaline, high temperature), and is suitable for neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, frozen shoulder, paralysis, joint stiffness, bruises, sprains, chronic digestive diseases, hemorrhoids, health promotion, fatigue recovery, post-illness recovery, and cold sensitivity, etc.
