"Ji Jia Zhuang" - A renowned restaurant specializing in Silkie chicken! A long-established Taiwanese restaurant offering a variety of exquisite dishes, primarily chicken dishes!

A long-established Taiwanese restaurant that serves exquisite Taiwanese cuisine with chicken dishes as its main focus.Chicken HouseI had a lunch meeting with my friends from Taiwan!

This is a long-established Taiwanese restaurant that has been in business for over 40 years since the 1970s. Founded by Li Xueyu, who previously sold chickens at a market, it is a renowned restaurant specializing in chicken and Taiwanese cuisine, opened by a true chicken professional!

The chickens we serve at our shop are "free-range chickens" that are raised freely in the mountains!
This Taiwanese restaurant, specializing in chicken dishes made exclusively from young chickens aged 4-5 months who have never laid eggs, has grown into a beloved establishment among many celebrities, Taiwanese citizens, and tourists alike!
Currently, there is another store in the same Nakayama area.Jiajiahuang Liujyo BranchThey also have a branch store!

The main store is located on Changchun Road in the Zhongshan area, the heart of Taipei, next to the famous xiao long bao restaurant "Kyoto Dinglou Located next to "Jing Ding Lou", "Regent Taipei Regent TaipeiIt's within walking distance from [location]!

On this day, I met with a Taiwanese couple who are friends of mine and the founders of a jewelry brand established in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark.PANDORAChen Yulong, owner of PandoraLawrence Chen) and his wifeDaniella HuangAnd, like Lawrence, he is also a member of the "Porsche Team" and whom I met in Tokyo.Mario FangAnd his active wife who loves mountain climbingHsin hsin ChouA dinner party with six people! Mario works in marketing and, in addition to being a university professor, last year launched a wine management app.CellWine intelligent sake cup APPHe founded the company that operates "[website name]" and is attracting attention from wine lovers!

Every time I visit Taipei, Lawrence recommends restaurants, and his palate, having experienced fine cuisine from around the world, is always spot-on. Every restaurant he recommends is truly delicious, but the dishes we had at "Ji Jia Zhuang" this time were outstanding. Every dish was exquisite, and it gave me a whole new perspective on Taiwanese cuisine!

[Menu]
① "Three-Color Chicken (Three Flavor Chicken)" *Special specification: Silkie chicken only
The restaurant's signature dish, "Sanmi-kei," normally allows you to enjoy three different cuts of chicken, but here, they are specially offering only the most expensive and Lawrence's recommended "Ukokkei" chicken!
The jet-black skin has a bouncy, gelatinous texture thanks to the collagen, while the inside offers firm, elastic meat. After a smooth, moist finish, you'll savor the endless burst of chicken flavor!
Two types of sauces are available: ginger sauce and sweet and spicy sauce, so choose the one you prefer!

② Spicy bitter melon (鹹酥苦瓜) 320 TWD (approximately 1,180 JPY)
A spicy dish featuring fried bitter melon and carrots, served with finely crushed nuts!
The slightly bitter taste of the crispy fried bitter melon is addictive and makes it the perfect accompaniment to beer!

③ "Clams and loofah" 360 TWD (approximately 1,330 Japanese Yen)
In Japan, we don't often have the opportunity to eat loofah, but in Taiwan, you'll see loofah dishes quite often! Because loofah, a member of the gourd family, has a high water content, it becomes wonderfully tender when simmered in clam soup!

④ "Stir-fried pork heart with satay sauce (Satay Pork Heart)" 420 TWD (approximately 1,550 JPY)
This dish features thinly sliced, fresh pork hearts, delivered daily, and quickly stir-fried in the restaurant's original satay sauce! There's absolutely no unpleasant odor, and the thinness of the slices works wonders; even my husband, who usually dislikes the texture of offal, enjoyed it! The sauce is simply delicious!

⑤ "Oyster Rolls (蚵卷) 2 rolls" 150 TWD (approximately 560 Japanese Yen)
These deep-fried spring rolls, generously filled with plump, juicy oysters, are served piping hot with a delightfully crispy coating! Take a big bite and the aroma of oysters fills your senses—a moment of pure bliss!

⑥ "Taiwanese Oyster Omelet (Ah Zai Jian)" 380 TWD (approximately 1,400 JPY)
A Taiwanese dish famous for its oysters, this omelet-style dish features oysters cooked in an egg omelet! The fluffy eggs, infused with the delicious oyster broth, are so addictive you won't be able to stop eating them!

⑦ Chicken Tofu (雞家豆腐) 286 TWD (approximately 1,060 JPY)
It comes in a cute chicken-shaped ceramic dish! When you open the lid, it looks like mapo tofu at first glance, but it's actually chicken tofu seasoned with oyster sauce and based on chicken soup! Not only is the tofu smooth, but the light chicken base, unlike beef or pork, makes it easy on the stomach and creates an endless loop of deliciousness!

⑧ Chicken Soup Broth Rice (雞飯) per person: 50 TWD (approximately 190 JPY)
Instead of plain white rice, this rice is cooked with chicken broth and garlic. The garlic aroma is appetizing, and the rice, infused with the gentle chicken broth, has a mild flavor that pairs well with any dish! We highly recommend ordering it as a set with "Chicken Tofu (雞家豆腐)" and pouring plenty of it over the rice!

⑨ "Taro balls (芋頭丸) - 4 pieces per serving" 120 TWD (approximately 440 Japanese Yen)
These deep-fried dumplings, filled with fluffy purple taro, are seasoned with curry spices and are not a dessert!

⑩ "Chilled Bamboo Shoots" 360 TWD (approximately 1,330 Japanese Yen)
The crisp texture of seasonal bamboo shoots is irresistible, and their gentle sweetness makes them perfect for a hot day when served chilled!

⑪ Stir-fried water spinach (water spinach) 198 TWD (approx. Japanese Yen)
I absolutely love stir-fried water spinach, a vibrant dish that's an essential part of Taiwanese cuisine!

⑫ "Stir-fried offal (stir-fried sausage)" 280 TWD (approximately 1,040 JPY)
A dish of chicken gizzards and offal stir-fried with seasonal vegetables! This technique is only possible with fresh chicken!

⑬ Mustard greens and chicken hot pot (卦菜雞鍋) 880 TWD (approximately 3,260 JPY)
This hot pot, simmered with plenty of chicken bones, simply contains crisp mustard greens, but it's more of a drink than a meal!
We were so captivated by the soup in this pot that we almost drank it all!

⑭ "Egg Pudding (Ji Dan Bu Ding)" 120 TWD (approximately 440 Japanese Yen)
If you go to "Keiyaso," you absolutely must try this pudding!
Although it has a smooth texture, it has a firm consistency and flavor that evokes nostalgia for the past, and combined with the slightly bitter taste of caramel, it becomes a rich, old-fashioned pudding!

This is a highly-regarded restaurant featured in the "Taipei Michelin Guide" published in March 2018. The restaurant's appearance, style, and cuisine have remained unchanged since its founding, exuding a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It's a friendly and approachable Taiwanese restaurant that I would definitely like to revisit!

As we were all enjoying a delicious and fun meal together, to our surprise, Lawrence presented us with a super-limited edition "Kavalan Whisky SOLIST VINHO SINGLE CASK STRENGTH SINGLE MALT WHISKY," a miraculous single malt from Taiwan that is one of my husband and I's favorites!
