The Thamel district is lined with budget accommodations, souvenir shops, and restaurants offering cuisine from various countries. It seems to have a particularly large number of trekking and sports equipment shops catering to hikers! Tour members can also find traditional Nepalese textiles here...Pashmina stoleThey were buying large quantities of it! For example, Pashmina 100%, which is a luxury item in Japan and costs over 10,000 yen, can be purchased locally for as little as 3,000 yen per piece!

This was the first time we had free time during the tour, so I Googled for good restaurants in the Thamel district and found a famous Tibetan restaurant, "GillingcheWe came to "[restaurant name]" for lunch! The location is very hard to find, and it's set back a bit from the street, so we recommend checking it on Google Maps!

The restaurant was bright and colorful, and since it was a little past lunchtime, my husband and I had the place all to ourselves! It seems to be a popular restaurant that's usually bustling with people, so we were lucky!

Since I was told by my doctor to stop drinking alcohol, I drank sparkling water.Kinley」60 rupees (approximately 64 Japanese yen)They squeezed a lemon over it!

"Thenthuk Chicken" 150 rupees (approximately 160 yen in Japanese currency)
This Tibetan noodle soup is hearty and filling, featuring flat, square noodles that resemble Japanese kishimen, hoto, udon, or even lasagna! It's packed with vegetables and processed foods, and while it's spiced, it has a mild flavor, similar to tanmen, and the thick soup keeps it warm and delicious for a long time! You can add the accompanying spicy condiments to change the flavor to your liking.

"MoMo Vegetable Pan-fried" 180 rupees (approximately 193 yen)
Momos, a staple Nepalese dish, are similar to dumplings in Japan. They come in steamed, pan-fried, and deep-fried varieties, and the filling is often made with buffalo meat. The filling is seasoned, but it's most commonly eaten with a spicy sauce. I've tried steamed momos at various restaurants, but I haven't had many pan-fried ones, so this time I ordered the pan-fried type!

The chicken thigh skin is thin and crispy, and since I chose the vegetable filling, it's packed with vegetables and has a spicy, curry-flavored filling that's incredibly appetizing! It's even more delicious when you dip it generously in the accompanying sauce! I think momo is a flavor that Japanese people will love♪

Now that my stomach is full and I'm completely satisfied, I'd like to do some shopping before heading to the meeting place with the other tour members♪
