A handmade soba noodle shop that stands alone in the residential area of NakajimaSoba Restaurant Oomori"Mr. Omori. The owner's smile remains unchanged, visible through the noren (curtain). I had tried to visit twice early in the new year, but unfortunately, they were closed for the day, so this is my third visit, and it's finally here (lol). The restaurant is closed two days a week, Monday and Tuesday, and Mr. Omori, who is busy serving soba restaurants all over the country (lol), often attends soba competitions and meetings, so he frequently takes temporary closures on weekends, Saturday and Sunday. If you are coming from far away, we recommend that you check their website for closure notices or call them to inquire beforehand♪

This warm and inviting restaurant, run by a loving elderly couple, has a small tatami room that seats about 10 people and a counter that seats about 4. Even on weekdays, it's often bustling with regulars, but the turnover at this soba restaurant is relatively quick, so if you're not in a hurry, you can usually get in if you allow yourself a little extra time and wait. On this particular day, I invited a guest from out of town and introduced Mr. Omori to the restaurant, saying, "This is my favorite soba restaurant in Hamamatsu!"

"Taste Comparison" 1,000 yen

The "Tabekurabi" set allows you to compare two types of soba noodles: seiro soba and inaka soba made with whole-grain buckwheat. The seiro soba in the foreground uses Maruoka heirloom buckwheat from Fukui Prefecture, and is a vibrant green with a sweet and delicious flavor. The inaka soba in the background uses Hitachi Aki soba, and because it's made with whole-grain buckwheat, you can really taste the richness of the buckwheat. Eating it with salt allows you to enjoy the aroma and sweetness of the buckwheat in a different way. My guest seemed to really like it! (Happy) For first-time visitors, I recommend the "Tabekurabi" set as you can taste two types of soba at once. This year, the husband will be learning soba-making from Mr. Omori, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes♪
