たなか整形外科 浜松市初生町から都田方面までをつなぐ真っ直ぐな街道、都田テクノロードに突如現れるシンプルモダンな純白の建物がわたしの目を捉えた。広大な駐車スペースが伺える土地にゆったりと佇む平屋づくり。緑の木々が立ち並び緩やかな空気が流れる長閑な郊外に、一見すると都会的な風を送り込むかのようなデザイン。However,、周囲の風景に違和感を与えることなく溶け込むこの建物は一体何なのだろう。Such desire or intention、建物に添えられたロゴに目をやる。「TANAKA SEIKEIGEKA」・・・たなか整形外科と表示されている。驚きを隠せはしないが、ここは個人病院である。ここ浜松でこのよう医療施設にわたしはまだ出会っていない。一体誰がこのようなデザインを提案したのだろう。次から次へと興味を抱かせるこの建物を設計したのは、浜松に腰を据えてまだ4年ほどの一級建築士・高木昭良氏が率いる「高木昭良建築設計事務所」だ。彼に設計を依頼した施主であり、整形外科の院長でもある田中耕次郎氏。田中氏と高木氏は高校の剣道部で苦楽を共にした仲で、卒業後それぞれの道を歩むこととなる。And、東京の建築設計事務所で活躍する高木氏と関西で勤務医として働きながら開業を夢見る田中氏が互いに地元浜松に戻ったことをキッカケに生まれた縁。ある日突然、何の約束事もなく彼の事務所にひょっこりと訪ねてきた田中氏の姿が。既に開業を予定する土地を押さえ、あとは設計士を決めるばかりといった段階での依頼。施主である田中氏と、同じく整形外科医である田中氏の父親の要望を汲み入れた方向で、高木氏の頭には何ら迷いなくデザインが浮かんだという。それがこの建物である。 緩やかなカーブを描く屋根付きの通路や明るい光を取り込む開放的な空間は、整形外科での待ち時間やリハビリをする患者が、院内で滞在する時間を楽しめるようにと配慮し、四季折々の木々を植樹。院内からも緑をより自然に感じてもらうために、窓という窓から温もり溢れる緑の癒しを提供し、庭先の地面に傾斜を付け、院内でのリハビリ中に視界に飛び込む緑の面積をより多く取り組む工夫なども施されている。その植栽デザインに一役買って出てくれたのが、東京は目黒にある「マインドスケープ」の柳原博史氏だ。 NEアパートメント photo: Hiroyasu Sakaguchi AtoZ 横浜国立大学工学部建設学科を卒業し、大学院の修士課程を修了した高木氏は、就職先をそのデザイン性に惚れ込み「手塚建築研究所」に所属し、現場での修行を積んでいく。2001-2005年にかけて経験を積み重ね、2006年満を持して高木昭良建築設計事務所を設立。2008年に都心に竣工したバイク愛好家のためのビルトインガレージ付き賃貸集合住宅「NEアパートメント」では、グッドデザイン賞を受賞。同年にイギリスのArchitectural Review誌主催の国際アワードAR awards 2008でHighly commendedを獲得し、翌年2009年には、東京建築賞・第35回建築作品コンクールの共同住宅部門で最優秀賞を受賞している。 敷地は、間口の狭い路地状の敷地のみが道路に面している旗竿敷地。都心部では安全な駐輪場が整備されている賃貸住宅が少ないため、路上駐車や盗難・放火被害がしばしば発生し問題に。特に高級バイクユーザーのニーズは高く、全ての住戸にバイク用のビルトインガレージを設けることが求められた。8戸分のエントランスに求められる壁面長を確保しながらも広がりのある外部空間になるよう、壁面を円弧状に大きくカーブさせることを考える。バイクの転回が容易になるだけでなく、通路というよりは広場のような行き止まり感のない明るい空間とし、デザイン性が話題を呼んだ。 ビルトインガレージ付き バイクと暮らす賃貸住宅 photo: Hiroyasu Sakaguchi AtoZ 30年以上連れ添った夫婦が終の棲家として高木氏に設計を依頼。「ツイノスミカ」と名付けられたこの家は、2011年に大阪ガス 住宅設計アワード2011の優秀賞を受賞する。宇治の山並みが美しく、川の水音が耳に心地よい、長閑な環境に建ち、ご夫妻からのリクエストは、「庭いじりに没頭できるまとまりのある庭と変化のある空間」。家で過ごす時間が増える夫婦にとって「変化のある空間」とは、長時間過ごしても飽きることがない多様さと、気分に応じて互いの距離感を変えられる柔軟さを備えた空間であると考える。「ひとりの時間が欲しいけれどお互いの存在を感じられないと不安になる。」そんな2人のつかず離れずの距離感を保つため、全ては見通せないけれど気配は感じられる一室空間をつくり出している。 ツイノスミカ リビング・ダイニングでは高く開放感のある空間を、端部の寝室では低くて小さい私的な空間をつくり出し、単純さの中にさり気なく織り込まれた多様さは、内部空間同様、眺める方向により外観の印象も大きく変えている。髙木氏は、決して自分の意見を主張し過ぎることなく、施主の想いを汲み入れながら素直にデザインすることを楽しみ取り組んでいる。物静かな口調で落ち着いた雰囲気を保ち、そっと語りかける彼の言い回しは、まるで彼のデザインする建物の居心地の良さをそのまま表しているように思える。 地元である浜松に戻り、彼の設計で生まれた「たなか整形外科」。Now、Tokyo、名古屋でプロジェクトが進む彼ではあるが、「ここ浜松でももっとプロジェクトを増やして故郷に貢献できると嬉しい」と語る高木氏。忙しい合間をぬっての休日には、夫婦揃って共通の趣味である登山を楽しんでいるようだ。新婚旅行では、ヨーロッパアルプスの最高峰である標高4,810ｍのモンブランに挑戦したというから、その穏やかな外見に反し意外性にも驚いてしまう。「山登りは自分との闘いですよ」と口にする彼の言葉からは、優しい表情を浮かべながらも彼の内側に見せる実直で力強い信念を漂わせていた。彼が望むように、わたしも強く願おう。彼のつくるデザインで今後浜松の街が居心地の良さを楽しめることを。そして多くの人が、愛着ある家に住まうことの大切さに気付くことを。 高木昭良建築設計事務所 http://www.ataa.jp/...
